CLERK'S REPORTS TO COUNCIL.

Clerk’s Report to Meeting of the Council on 12th July 2011.

  1. Playground.
    1. The order has been placed for a ‘Sturdy Twin Swing’, a springing motorbike and multi-seat springy flower. Delivery time 3-4 weeks.
    2. Work has been carried out to remove dead wood on the Scots Pine adjacent to the playground footpath. Some of the healthy growth over hanging no 69 Brecksfield has been removed but the tree surgeon would not remove all of it as this would have made the tree dangerously unbalanced. York City Council’s Arboricultural Office backed up this opinion. The owner of no 69 still wishes all overhanging branches to be removed. This matter is on the agenda for the meeting.

  1. Brecksfield Bus Shelter.

A replacement for the Brecksfield Bus Shelter has been ordered, delivery 6-8 weeks.

I have informed York Pullman that the Council intends to claim those costs incurred by the Council which are not recovered from the Council’s insurance from the company or its insurers. To date I have had no response from York Pullman Bus Co.

  1. Strimming and weeding work has been carried out on Orchard Field hedge by individuals who had no authority to do so. This matter is on the agenda for the meeting. Some minor tree work was carried out on an Ash by CE Electric UK. The necessary authorisation was obtained.
  2. Cemetery.
  3. On Sunday 3rd July a parishioner discovered a fowl smelling suspicious plastic parcel in the cemetery wheely bin. She reported this to NY Police who later informed her they had passed the matter on to City of York Council. The parishioner reported it to me on Monday morning. I inspected the bin. Although the bin was full I could not see any suspicious object and there was no fowl smell. I took no further action.
